About mulch

Bulk mulch is shredded bark or wood used to cover garden beds. It suppresses weeds, holds moisture in the soil and evens out soil temperature through a New Brunswick summer.

Types and colours come from local suppliers, so what's on hand varies through the season. Tell us the mulch you want — or just the look you're after — and we'll confirm availability with the supplier when we quote.

Common uses for mulch

  • Refreshing garden and foundation beds
  • Covering new landscaping installs
  • Weed suppression around trees and shrubs
  • Pathways through garden areas

Mulch for homeowners and contractors

Small Load Co. delivers mulch to residential properties and to active jobsites. Homeowners generally want a single manageable pile placed somewhere sensible; contractors generally want the material on site without sending someone to the supplier.

  • Homeowners refreshing beds in spring
  • Gardeners who would otherwise make several trips with bagged mulch
  • Landscapers needing a small top-up load mid-project

Typical quantities

  • A typical residential bed refresh at 2–3 inches deep: often 1–3 cubic yards
  • One cubic yard covers roughly 100 square feet at 3 inches deep
  • Use the mulch calculator to size your beds before ordering.

Delivery considerations

  • Mulch is bulky but light, so volume rather than weight usually sets the limit.
  • We'll place the pile as close to the beds as safe access allows.
  • Have a tarp ready if the pile needs to sit on a driveway for a few days.

Is mulch a good fit for a small load?

Yes — mulch is one of the materials small-load delivery exists for. If your project needs less than a full truckload, or your driveway can't take a full-size truck, a small load is usually the practical option.

How much mulch will you need?

Measure the area, then estimate the volume before you order.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a small load?
A small load is anything under 4 tons. In practice that covers most residential and small-jobsite orders: a few cubic yards of bulk material, or a manageable stack of eligible building materials. Because weight is the limit, dense materials such as wet gravel or sand reach 4 tons in fewer yards than light materials such as mulch.
Do you remove junk or haul away debris?
No. Small Load Co. is a delivery service, not a junk removal company. We bring materials to your property or jobsite.
